Description

The Folk Culture Award of the State of Styria honors extraordinary, innovative achievements in the field of Styrian folk culture every two years. With a prize money of €10,000, the award recognizes dedicated individuals who set sustainable impulses in the areas of folk music, folk dance, handicrafts, or museum and monument preservation. A special focus is placed on preserving identity-forming traditions as well as strengthening science, youth, and intangible cultural heritage. The award is granted in full upon the recommendation of an expert jury and honors those projects that keep the cultural richness of Styria alive while opening up new perspectives.

Eligible for funding are natural persons with verifiable ties to Styria whose achievements stand out due to their innovative content, tradition preservation, and significance for future generations. Application requirements include proof of a regional connection as well as a description of the outstanding or innovative achievement in the field of folk culture.
