Description

In Tyrol, the foster parent allowance supports caregivers in the comprehensive upbringing and care of minor foster children as well as young adults. Since December 20, 2013, an indefinite financial subsidy in the form of a monthly grant has been available to ease the time and material expenses associated with caregiving. Upon the initial acceptance of a foster child, a one-time equipment allowance is additionally granted. Private individuals working in a socio-pedagogical foster placement or acting as emergency foster carers can submit applications at any time and benefit from the unlimited funding period.

The measure aims at the sustainable relief of caregivers and contributes to strengthening the individual care situation in families and institutions. It promotes social responsibility and creates incentives to provide young people with a stable environment. Interested caregivers receive detailed information about the legal basis in the Tyrolean Child and Youth Welfare Act (TKJHG) as well as guidance on the application procedure directly from the Department of Inclusion and Child and Youth Welfare of the State of Tyrol. This support significantly contributes to ensuring caregiving services in the long term and equally addresses the needs of foster children and their caregivers.
