Description

Since September 2020, the W-Land project of the Westphalian Cultural Landscape Foundation and the Warendorf District Hunting Association has been implementing targeted measures to promote biodiversity and nature conservation throughout the Warendorf district. Eligible applicants include private individuals, companies, interest groups, and associations based in the district, as well as agricultural, forestry, and hunting users. Funding is provided as a grant over a project duration of 36 months and enables, among other things, the procurement of seed and planting material, the execution of maintenance and implementation measures, as well as the utilization of professional advisory services. Continuous application submission is possible as there is no application deadline. The goal is to enhance the cultural landscape through the creation of structural corridors, hedge and forest edge maintenance, small water bodies and field ditch measures, contractual nature conservation, and coordinated predator management.

The free program targets nature conservation-interested land users, landowners, maintenance associations, district holders, and farmers to promote open-land species such as the European hare, partridge, lapwing, and skylark in the long term. Joint planning and implementation are based on the respective site conditions and combine energy-efficient climate protection concepts with sustainable agricultural and rural development. Funding can be easily applied for by registering with the Westphalian Cultural Landscape Foundation. This creates a cooperative, exemplary network for the preservation and development of diverse habitats in North Rhine-Westphalia. Interested parties receive additional support from the Lower Nature Conservation Authority of the Warendorf district.
