Hiking Trail Renovations by Alpine Clubs with Support from the State of Vorarlberg

With the funding program Hiking Trail Renovations by Alpine Clubs with Support from the State of Vorarlberg, non-profit alpine clubs receive project-related grants to professionally and permanently maintain the extensive hiking trail network in Vorarlberg. Eligible for funding are the Alpine Club Vorarlberg, the sections of the German Alpine Club active in Vorarlberg, as well as the Vorarlberg Friends of Nature. The goal is to renovate trail sections in sensitive alpine landscapes in an environmentally friendly manner, strengthen existing infrastructure, and promote regional economic development in the municipalities. The program places special emphasis on sustainable and energy-efficient measures that support climate protection while securing the attractive hiking infrastructure.

Applications can be submitted continuously and may be made from January 1, 2024 within the framework of the annually established renovation program. A prerequisite for approval is the formal inclusion of the project in the renovation program as well as approval by the Vorarlberg State Government. Each measure must clearly demonstrate compliance with the professional guidelines and alignment with regional environmental and nature conservation regulations. The evaluation considers both the substantive conformity with the funding concept and adherence to technical quality requirements. In this way, the state program contributes to the long-term preservation of Vorarlberg’s characteristic hiking trail network and effectively supports the local club work of interest groups and nature conservation organizations.
