Description
The funding program of the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation supports physics research groups at universities and research institutes nationwide in organizing multi-day closed meetings in the form of cabin seminars or retreats. The aim is to promote intensive professional and collegial exchange, which often lays the foundation for innovative research ideas and long-term collaborations. Eligible to apply are groups from the field of physics; analogous to binational WE-Heraeus seminars, the event can also be held jointly with a cooperating research group abroad. The application language is German or English, and the application must not exceed ten pages.
Funding covers accommodation and meals up to €60 per day per person, as well as a Heraeus evening with €20 per person. Upon request, costs for room rental and technical equipment can also be reimbursed. Travel to and from the venue as well as beverages are not reimbursable. The application requires the title and topic of the closed meeting, location and date, name and address of the scientific leadership, as well as a one-page CV. Additionally, a preliminary participant list, a group portrait, the most important publications from the last three years (max. 10), the objectives of the meeting, and a preliminary daily and social program must be submitted. A statement regarding the lack of alternative funding and the signature of the applicants complete the application. Deadlines are in spring and autumn; the exact dates are published by the Foundation on its website.
