Web Residencies

The Online Residency of the Akademie Schloss Solitude offers a nationwide funding opportunity for individuals and non-profit organizations from the fields of culture, media, digitalization, research & innovation. Artists, designers, hackers, and researchers or collectives have the opportunity to realize their artistic and research-based work processes in a fully digital environment and present them publicly. The goal is to support the development of innovative concepts in the virtual space and make them accessible to a broader public. Established in 2016, the program has been announced multiple times in cooperation with the ZKM | Center for Art and Media and is characterized by an open, curated selection process.

Three Open Calls take place each year, in which four projects are selected each time for a duration of one month. The decision is made by invited experts or thematically specific collectives who evaluate the level of innovation and thematic relevance of the submitted digital works. Applications require a meaningful project description, work samples or a portfolio, as well as a CV. Participation in the curated selection process and exclusive work in the digital space are prerequisites for funding in the form of a grant.
