Description

The Heilwig Foundation Fund supports employees of non-profit and public disability institutions in the districts of Traunstein and Berchtesgadener Land with a full subsidy for palliative care training. The goal is to sustainably strengthen and expand hospice and palliative care for people with disabilities in Bavaria. By financing the course fees, nursing professionals and curative education nurses are enabled to acquire solid competencies in palliative care. The initiative dates back to its founding in 2019 by Donata Beckers in cooperation with the Hospice Network Southeast Bavaria e.V., to ensure qualified care until the end in a familiar environment.

The funding is aimed at individuals with completed training in a nursing profession and/or as curative education nurses in disability institutions. 100% of the course fees are covered, with no time limit for applications. Applicant institutions can continuously submit funding requests to the Foundation Fund and thus benefit from uncomplicated procedures. The measure supports not only the acquisition of 160 teaching units in palliative care, certified by the German Society for Palliative Medicine and the German Hospice and Palliative Care Association e.V., but also contributes to networking with hospice services, supervision, and ethical consultation. The initiative makes a decisive contribution to the professional support of seriously ill and dying persons as well as to promoting a dignified end of life in inpatient and outpatient disability care.
