Heilwig Stiftung
About the funder
The Heilwig Foundation Fund is a non-profit foundation fund within the umbrella foundation for individual giving of GLS-Treuhand e.V. It was established in 2019 by Donata Beckers after her sister Heilwig Beckers, who had Down syndrome, received insufficient palliative care during her final phase of life. In cooperation with the Hospice Network Southeast Bavaria e.V., the fund promotes the implementation and expansion of palliative care for people with disabilities in the districts of Traunstein and Berchtesgadener Land. Supported activities include networking, training and further education of staff and hospice volunteers, supervision/coaching, ethics consultation, initiatives for home care of people with disabilities, as well as complementary medical measures.

Target groups
The Heilwig Foundation Fund is aimed at people with disabilities, especially those with intellectual disabilities, who require palliative care at the end of life. In addition, care facilities, hospice services, and professionals are supported to ensure dignified and pain-free accompaniment in a familiar environment.
