Description

The program »Open-minded Saxony for Democracy and Tolerance« supports projects that strengthen democratic values and establish an open culture in the Free State of Saxony. Eligible for funding are registered educational institutions, public institutions, non-profit organizations, interest groups, as well as legal entities under public law. The thematic focus lies in the areas of culture and media, particularly in cultural education work, media-pedagogical offerings, and intercultural workshops. Funded are statewide professional networks, regional networks, projects promoting democracy, small-scale projects, educational trips, as well as initiatives of special democratic-political interest. The maximum project duration is three years, a minimum own contribution of five percent is required, and the funding rate can be up to 95 percent.

The central objective is to reduce group-related hostility and to expand democratic action competencies among participants. The Saxon Development Bank – Förderbank – (SAB) is responsible for approval and sets staggered deadlines: applications for statewide professional networks and regional networks must be submitted by June 30 of the current year, democracy promotion projects by September 30, whereas for small-scale projects and educational trips, ongoing applications are possible until at least four weeks before the start. This funding offer creates sustainable structures for civil society engagement and contributes in the long term to a vibrant, open-minded democracy in Saxony.
