Description

The WEST Music Foundation, implemented in cooperation with the Musik.Macht.Menschen project of the CHRISTOPH SONNTAG FOUNDATION GmbH, provides socially disadvantaged children and young people across Germany with free access to musical education. The goal is to dismantle existing barriers and enable long-term participation in communal music lessons. Through instrumental instruction by qualified teachers and the provision of loan instruments, the joy of making music is awakened and self-confidence is strengthened. The funding honors the musical legacy of Peter “WEST” Haag, founding member of the band HÄMATOM, and carries forward his conviction that music connects people and gives hope.

100% of the expenses for lessons and loan instruments are covered, with no financial contribution required from the applicants. The programs are open to private individuals throughout Germany whose children and young people can demonstrate financial hardship and have an interest in learning an instrument. Applications can be submitted year-round and require a completed registration form including name, age, desired instrument, place of residence, and a brief explanation of the need. Due to the continuous funding cycle, applications may be submitted at any time. Participants benefit from sustainable musical education that not only promotes artistic skills but also supports social inclusion and personal development. A detailed application and comprehensive information on the process are compiled in the funding flyer.
