Description
The Vienna state funding supports the installation of vertically mounted photovoltaic facade systems with a capacity of at least 3 kWp, which achieve a minimum of 500 full-load hours per year in grid-parallel operation. Both building-integrated photovoltaic elements (BIPV), which wholly or partially replace facade components, and suspended systems on existing facades or other vertical structures such as noise barriers are eligible for funding. Natural and legal persons with headquarters or project location in Vienna can submit an application online at any time. The application must be submitted before ordering, down payment, or installation of the system and must include, among other things, a plan of the planned system including kWp specification and m² verification, a quote from a specialist company, proof of the projected annual yield, as well as a photo ID or authentication via ID Austria. Fire protection requirements (MA 37) and glare prevention requirements (MA 39) must already be considered during the planning phase.
Implementation must take place within 24 months of the funding commitment; an extension is possible in case of delivery delays. The funding amount is calculated either as €700 per kWp or as a maximum of 30% of the eligible costs minus the revenues from five years of operation (€0.035/kWh), with the lower amount always being paid out. The maximum funding per system is €250,000. Combining this with other state or federal funding is excluded. After completion and timely submission of all final accounting documents – including invoices, proof of payment, metering point confirmation, and photos of the system and inverter – the one-time, non-repayable grant is disbursed. The service team at Kommunalkredit Public Consulting provides advisory support throughout the entire process.
