Description
The Vienna Photovoltaic Canopy Funding supports companies, non-profit organizations, associations, and public law entities based in Vienna in the construction of canopies (canopy roofs) on sealed surfaces such as parking, marshalling, storage, or handling areas. Funding is provided for newly installed photovoltaic systems operating in parallel with the grid, with at least 800 full-load hours per year and a minimum capacity of 15 kWp or a covered area of at least 100 m². The goal is to utilize unused sealed surfaces for dual use with renewable energy generation, thereby promoting climate protection and energy efficiency. Applications can be submitted online throughout the year, provided funding is available, and must be submitted before the start of work along with a specialist company’s offer. Implementation must be completed within 24 months after the funding approval.
Funding covers planning, consulting, and expert services, construction costs including canopy structure and surface restoration, infiltration systems, as well as the complete PV system with modules, cables, inverters, and mounting systems. Non-eligible costs include, among others, electricity storage, charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, other electrical installations, fees, warranty and insurance costs, and grid connection fees. The grant amounts to 30% of eligible costs minus the revenues of the first five years or alternatively a flat rate of €600/kWp, whichever is lower; the maximum funding amount per project is €250,000. For the application, a canopy and system plan, a specialist company’s offer, a forecast proof of annual yield, a photo ID, and proof of the metering point number are required.
