Description
WieNeu+ Grätzlmarie supports innovative urban renewal projects in selected Viennese neighborhoods and promotes social sustainability as well as social cohesion. Building and courtyard greening, participatory cultural and neighborhood projects, climate-adaptive measures, or cooperative energy initiatives can be implemented with 100% of eligible costs (up to €30,000). Eligible applicants include private individuals, non-profit organizations, associations, companies, developers, and local interest groups with a geographical connection to the program areas Innerfavoriten (until 31.12.2025), Grätzl 20+2 (until 31.12.2025), and Hernals (from 1.12.2025 until June 2028). Submissions are possible continuously as long as funds are available. The decisive criteria for approval are social sustainability, climate-fit measures, integrative networking, and good practice potential. Funded are material costs, personnel costs (own and external services), as well as administration and coordination (max. €150 flat rate). Non-fundable are representation expenses, alcohol, deposits, public charges, and discounts.
For the application, submission of the application form, project description with schedule, cost calculation, proof of association statutes or articles of incorporation, registration confirmation, and photo ID is required. After a positive decision by the WieNeu+ advisory board, a written funding contract follows, which regulates the funding amount, conditions, and control rights (monitoring, photo documentation, final report). Subsequently, the payment is made to the specified account. The MA 25 – Technical Urban Renewal of the City of Vienna accompanies applicants throughout the process, mediates experts, and supports with EU or national start-up funds. The goal is to make Viennese neighborhoods climate- and future-proof, strengthen integrative networks, and establish good practice examples locally.
