Wim Wenders Scholarship of the Film and Media Foundation NRW

The Wim Wenders Scholarship from the Film and Media Foundation NRW supports filmmakers with primary residence in Germany – especially in North Rhine-Westphalia – in the development of innovative fictional and documentary film ideas. With a funding amount of up to €100,000, primarily development costs and the use of technical resources are financed to effectively realize creative approaches and unique visual languages. The focus is on projects that stand out through high levels of innovation and original cinematic storytelling, opening up new visual perspectives.

For submission, a personal consultation meeting with at least one week’s notice before the annual submission deadline is required. Only after coordination with the responsible advisor and activation in the online portal can the required documents be submitted via the Service Center. Needed are a visual and narrative concept, a detailed budget plan, an audiovisual directing reference project, as well as a short video pitch. The jury, consisting of Wim Wenders and an advisory panel, selects those projects that distinguish themselves through originality and innovative strength. This scholarship offers ambitious filmmakers an exceptional opportunity to accompany visionary projects from the idea stage to initial realization.
