We Promote Diversity! – Baden-Württemberg Nature Conservation Foundation

We promote diversity! Since 2023, the Baden-Württemberg Nature Conservation Foundation has been supporting non-profit organizations, public institutions, companies, start-ups, interest groups, cooperatives, foundations, and private individuals in implementing practice-oriented nature conservation and biodiversity projects in the state. The program is divided into two funding categories – General Budget and Replacement Payments – and targets initiatives and actors committed to species and habitat protection, habitat connectivity, environmental education, as well as implementation-oriented, nature-based climate adaptation strategies. Eligible projects must be carried out in Baden-Württemberg and align with the goals of biological diversity, environmental awareness, and practical nature conservation measures. Submissions are accepted continuously; the next call for projects under the General Budget will start in July 2026, while applications for Replacement Payments are accepted continuously until September 30, 2026.

In the General Budget funding category, projects such as process protection, settlement ecological studies, application-oriented research, and education for sustainable development are supported. Replacement Payments finance measures like species protection, soil function improvement, creation of natural retention areas, and initial maintenance measures in the affected natural environment. Funds up to €50,000 are usually approved within three months after complete application submission; higher amounts are decided by the Foundation Board. A prerequisite for funding is the correct submission in the respective funding category as well as a project focus on nature conservation, biodiversity, or environmental education. The program invites interested project sponsors to make an effective contribution to preserving the natural foundations of life in Baden-Württemberg through innovative and sustainable concepts.
