Description
The housing support according to the Burgenland Equal Opportunities Act (Bgld. ChG) assists people with disabilities in Burgenland to live independently in their own household on a permanent basis. From October 1, 2024, private individuals with occasional or low needs for assistance services pursuant to § 24 Bgld. ChG can submit applications without time limitation. The funding covers the costs for professional housing companions, which must be justified by a nursing, psychological, or social work expert report from an official expert. It is initially approved for twelve months and can be extended once by up to an additional twelve months in particularly deserving cases. Eligible for funding are Austrian citizens, asylum beneficiaries, or persons permanently residing for at least five years with their main residence and actual stay in Burgenland.
To apply, the completed application form, the official expert report, proof of disability pass, and, if applicable, evidence of adult representation or power of attorney must be submitted. The housing support aims to promote participation and equal opportunities by removing occasional barriers in the home environment, thereby enabling independent household management. The district administrative authorities and magistrates of the statutory cities in Burgenland are responsible for processing. Through this direct grant funding, affected persons receive tailored support to shape their daily lives independently and remain sustainably rooted in their home region.
