Description
The program Housing and Care – Assisted Living of the Fonds Soziales Wien (FSW) provides ongoing funding for barrier-free apartments in Viennese residential and nursing homes. The housing units are equipped with call assistance systems and are supervised by the staff of the facilities according to the principle of mobile services. The aim of the subsidies is to provide local care for elderly people with care and support needs when home care is no longer sufficient. The funding covers contributions to accommodation as well as care and support services, calculated taking into account the individual care needs, income, and asset situation. Applications can be submitted to the FSW at any time without time limitation.
Eligible applicants are private individuals with main residence in Vienna, Austrian citizenship or equivalent status, and a care requirement from care allowance level 2 onwards. For the application, among other documents, registration certificate, proof of citizenship or equivalence, social insurance number, a medical report (no older than six months), care allowance decision, income proofs, and, if applicable, marriage or divorce certificates must be submitted. Selection is based on a professional assessment of the type and severity of care needs as well as social and financial circumstances. Supplementary funding guidelines of the FSW regulate details regarding procedures and documentation requirements. Through this support, the FSW contributes to relieving relatives and ensuring quality of life and independence in old age.
