Housing/Rental in the von Nyegaard Foundation (Ladies' Foundation – free apartments)

The von Nyegaard Foundation enables the permanent rental of publicly subsidized, age-appropriate, and barrier-free apartments in the historic Damenstift in Hamburg-Altona. The listed ensemble offers space for around 70 residents and combines individual living with communal activities, which are independently organized by the tenants. The focus is on respectful coexistence: with numerous meeting rooms and events, the housing project promotes social engagement and mutual support in everyday life. The modern equipment of the apartments as well as the central location in the heart of Altona contribute to a high quality of life and good infrastructure.

The aim of the grant funding is to create long-term affordable housing for women aged 60 and over. A valid housing entitlement certificate (§-5 certificate) and the minimum age requirement are prerequisites for new rentals. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, allowing interested senior women to submit their documents at any time. After a positive review, rental agreements are concluded directly with the foundation administration. With this initiative, the von Nyegaard Foundation makes a sustainable contribution to social housing and the promotion of self-determined living in old age.
