Description

“Future Teaching Profession in Baden-Württemberg” is aimed at secondary school students in upper secondary education (Sekundarstufe II) in the state of Baden-Württemberg and awards a prize and scholarship to increase the attractiveness of the teaching profession. In response to the decades-long shortage of teachers, the program will be offered from 2024 onwards and strengthens interest in educational activities with children and adolescents. The support combines school and career orientation, mentoring, and practical insights to illustrate various pathways to teacher training and facilitate the start of studies and professional careers. The thematic focuses are education as well as initial and continuing training, with the program being implemented across disciplines.

The Foundation of German Business (sdw) cooperates with the Dieter Schwarz Foundation for this student scholarship program to utilize private funding opportunities in Baden-Württemberg. Only private applicants enrolled as students in upper secondary education at a grammar school (Gymnasium) in Baden-Württemberg and aspiring to study teaching are eligible to participate. The funding is granted in the form of an award, supported by individual guidance and professional networking. Interested young people receive concise orientation aids, access to experts from science and practice, as well as targeted impulses for their career paths. Applications will be accepted from 2024; the program complements the established “Teaching Mentoring” and offers new perspectives for all those who wish to become the teachers of tomorrow.
