Future Technologies for the Bavarian Economy

The Bavarian Research Foundation supports companies, start-ups, educational institutions, non-profit and public organizations in application-oriented research and technology projects in Bavaria. The aim of the funding is close cooperation between industry and science to develop pioneering innovations in the focus areas of digitalization, energy efficiency & renewable energies, mobility, materials & substances, as well as process and production technology. Small and medium-sized enterprises as well as start-ups, universities, and non-university research institutions can submit applications at any time, as there are no fixed deadlines. Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant and favors projects with a high degree of innovation and practical exploitation potential. A registered office or branch in Bavaria as well as the predominant implementation of the project in the Free State are prerequisites.

The project selection is based on scientific quality, application orientation, degree of innovation, and economic exploitation potential. Experts from research and practice evaluate each submission in a transparent, science-led process. Through a technology-open concept, the program offers a broad spectrum for transformation projects and contributes to strengthening Bavaria as a high-tech location. Interested applicants benefit from comprehensive advice provided by the offices in Munich and Nuremberg. The Bavarian Research Foundation thus not only promotes new technologies but also fosters knowledge and technology transfer in the region – a flexible offering that sustainably strengthens the innovative capacity of the Bavarian economy.
