Description
The Additional Activities program for the European Biodiversa+ partnership supports non-profit organizations, educational institutions, interest groups, and associations in establishing and networking cross-border living labs and research infrastructures. The goal is to consolidate and further develop biodiversity knowledge as well as to strengthen research capacities. The focus is on transdisciplinary networks composed of research institutions, NGOs, habitat users, and local authorities who jointly develop and test innovative methods to preserve and restore ecosystems and effectively translate conservation measures into policy and practice. The funding thus makes an important contribution to the implementation of the EU Biodiversity Strategy and the Nature Restoration Regulation, to achieving global biodiversity targets, and to promoting a nature-based circular economy.
Over three years, a total of up to €90 million is available – with a funding rate of 30%. Eligible to apply are research institutions, NGOs, and practice partners from the EU who submit the application together with the coordinator of the HORIZON-CL6-2021-BIODIV-02-01 project consortium. Eligible costs include personnel expenses, material costs, and financial support to third parties to specifically address gaps in expertise and infrastructure. Evaluation criteria are excellence, impact, and quality of implementation. Applications can be submitted from May 6, 2025, until September 17, 2025, at 5 p.m. (Brussels time). By specifically supporting transdisciplinary living labs and networks, this program opens new opportunities to directly translate research results into actions for the conservation and restoration of biodiversity, thereby creating sustainable innovation pathways for the protection of nature and livelihoods.
