Description
Since 1998, the Henner Krogh Foundation for the Promotion of Sylt Musicians has been specifically supporting musical creativity on Sylt. Private individuals, music groups, as well as non-profit associations, schools, and choirs with their main residence or headquarters on the island can apply for financial grants for the acquisition of instruments, sheet music, and teaching materials, for event and project costs, as well as for training and further education. In addition to the annually awarded Henner Krogh Promotion Prize, particular support is given to musicians from socially disadvantaged families. Funding is granted based on the musical quality of the project, its sustainable contribution to the local music scene, and, where applicable, consideration of social need. Funding applications can be submitted continuously and must be submitted in writing to the Municipality of Sylt at least five weeks before the start of the measures.
The application documents must include a brief self-description, an explanation of the planned measure, and a detailed financing plan of all income and expenses; proof of financial need may be submitted optionally. After completion of the funded measure, a usage report must be provided documenting the actual costs and revenues. The board of trustees decides on the allocation of funds, whereby the municipal council holds a veto right in case of statutory violations. Through this basic and project funding, the foundation makes a sustainable contribution to strengthening cultural diversity and developing young musical talent on Sylt. Interested musicians can find comprehensive information and funding guidelines on the Henner Krogh Foundation’s website.
