Description

In the city of Wadern in Saarland, a municipal grant program supports private owners in modernizing older residential buildings with significant renovation backlogs and sustainably enhancing the village and inner-city appearance. Funding is provided for single- and two-family houses that were lawfully constructed at least 45 years ago and are permanently used by the owners or their relatives. The goal is to strengthen child- and family-friendly town centers and make the living environment more attractive for all generations. Applications for the 2025 funding year have already been exhausted; interested parties can submit their applications for the new funding year starting from 01.01.2026.

The one-time grant amounts to 25% of the eligible costs, up to a maximum of €3,000, and increases by €1,000 for each child (up to 18 years) living in the household, up to a maximum of €5,000. Eligible works include painting of the exterior facade, roof and window work, as well as measures for insulation and energy-efficient renovation. A prerequisite for funding is proof of the renovation backlog, proof of ownership via a land register excerpt or notarized purchase contract, the cadastral map, and the commitment to use the building for at least ten years. Processing is carried out in the order of application receipt until the deadline on 31.12.2026. With this financial support, the city of Wadern makes an active contribution to the preservation of the building fabric and the strengthening of vibrant, family-friendly town centers.
