Grant to the Salzburg Fire Prevention Fund

The ongoing grant from the State of Salzburg to the Salzburg Fire Prevention Fund has supported measures for efficient fire prevention and well-founded fire cause investigation in the state of Salzburg since May 6, 2014. Public institutions and foundations acting as sponsors of fire brigade and disaster protection projects can benefit from this funding. With a funding amount equivalent to 11% of the state's share of the fire protection tax, targeted investments are promoted in technical equipment, training measures, and research projects aimed at risk minimization. Through the continuous provision of funds, fire brigade organizations and other institutions in the field of fire prevention are enabled to implement modern prevention concepts and to verify their effectiveness through qualified fire cause investigators. The fund acts as a central contact point and coordinates the distribution of financial resources to suitable project sponsors.

A prerequisite for a state grant is that the revenues from the fund's assets, foundation funds, or other income are first exhausted. Furthermore, the funding amounts are limited both to 11% of the state's share of the fire protection tax and to the extent of contributions from fire insurance companies in the state of Salzburg. Applications can be submitted year-round without limitation, allowing initiatives to be realized at any time. The goal is to sustainably increase the level of safety in civil protection and to ensure close cooperation between the state government, fire brigade associations, and research institutions. Legal certainty is based on the law establishing the Fire Prevention Fund (LGBl No. 76/1974 as amended), which forms the basis for the allocation and control of funding.
