Federal grant to the IRG for the safeguarding of Austrian-Jewish cultural heritage

The federal grant to the Israelite Religious Community (IRG) supports public institutions nationwide in the sustainable promotion of a vibrant Jewish life in Austria. With an annual budget of €4 million as a direct subsidy, the protection of historical sites and institutions is ensured, as well as the preservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Projects that strengthen community life, expand interreligious dialogue, and especially involve the younger generation in cultural and educational initiatives are funded. The target group includes the IRG as the central body of the Jewish community, as well as initiatives that promote social cohesion and deepen democratic engagement.

The funding measure requires an annual reporting and verification deadline by May 31 to transparently demonstrate the earmarked use of funds. Funding prerequisites include affiliation with the IRG and the timely submission of a meaningful activity report. Ongoing funding opportunities enable long-term planning and continuity for initiatives in the fields of culture, social affairs, and media. By strengthening intercultural encounters, this funding makes a significant contribution to inclusive, safe, and equitable coexistence in Austria.
