Description

The grant supports tourism associations in Tyrol in contractually opening existing non-public paths as mountain bike trails, thereby expanding the regional sports and leisure offerings. As a subsidy from state funds, the program enables sustainable infrastructure projects and simultaneously promotes the networking of cultural and media projects as well as urban development initiatives in rural areas. The funding can be applied for continuously and is exclusively aimed at non-profit organizations that ensure long-term management of the trails. With a view to increasing tourist attractiveness, the measure contributes to the further development of cycling traffic in Tyrol and strengthens the profile of the destinations as attractive mountain biking regions.

Funding requirements include the release of a previously non-public road or path for bicycle use, the written consent of the path owners, and the conclusion of a funding agreement with the State of Tyrol. Application documents must include a usage agreement and a detailed route plan. The grant has been available without time limitation since April 16, 2013, allowing flexible planning of new routes. Random inspections continuously check the condition and signage of the established mountain bike trails. These framework conditions create a reliable funding instrument that significantly contributes to strengthening rural tourism in Tyrol and effectively supports tourism associations in the sustainable development of their infrastructure projects.
