Description
In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the state supports non-profit organizations operating contact and information centers for self-help in order to strengthen individual initiative in health and social matters. The aim of the funding is to increase the willingness to engage in self-help, facilitate access to relevant services, and ensure the quality, stability, and continuity of the work of self-help groups. Eligible to apply are public institutions, interest groups, foundations, as well as other non-profit associations, including welfare organizations, municipal authorities, and church bodies that operate contact and information centers statewide. Available premises and professionally qualified staff are as crucial as independence from political, ideological, or religious influences and the protection of personal data.
Projects and measures for health-related and social self-help are funded with a grant covering up to 50% of eligible personnel and material expenses, with a maximum of €22,500 per year. A personal contribution of at least 10% and secured overall financing are required. Furthermore, a regional need must be demonstrated and a concept approved by the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (LAGuS). Qualified personnel amounting to at least 0.5 full-time equivalent and suitable premises form the professional basis. Applications for the following year must be submitted to LAGuS by October 31 each year. With this funding, the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Sports makes an important contribution to the sustainable strengthening of the self-help landscape in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
