Description

FRL-FID: Diversification of Agricultural Enterprises in Saarland
The funding program supports agricultural enterprises in Saarland with investments aimed at developing new income sources beyond primary production. Eligible applicants are SMEs generating at least 25% of their revenue from crop cultivation or land-based animal husbandry. Funding is provided, among other things, for the construction, acquisition, or modernization of fixed assets, the purchase of new machinery and equipment (including computer software), as well as architectural and engineering services. Additionally, consulting and support services, feasibility studies, and the acquisition of patent rights or licenses are eligible for funding. The grant amount is 25% of the eligible expenses. Applications can be submitted annually by January 31 until December 31, 2027, to the Ministry for Environment, Climate, Mobility, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (MUKMAV). The program aims to strengthen economic performance in rural areas and increase the competitiveness of agricultural enterprises through a second source of income.

Requirements and Conditions
An investment concept with a financing plan, proof of the prosperity limit (max. €110,000 for individual enterprises, €140,000 for married couples), and evidence of ELER compliance must be submitted. Cumulation with other public funds is possible in compliance with the de minimis regulation. Investments in Annex I production branches, ongoing operating expenses, debt repayments, severance payments, loan procurement costs, legal advisory fees, value-added tax, non-cash own contributions, and EEG-supported renewable energy systems are not eligible for funding. Selection is based on a points system considering factors such as regional value creation, participation in agri-environmental measures, and professional training. Through this funding, MUKMAV contributes to the long-term safeguarding of jobs and the sustainable development of rural areas in Saarland.
