Description
The state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania supports the expansion of business-related infrastructure through the Infrastructure Directive to strengthen the regional economy and competitiveness. Projects eligible for funding include the development and revitalization of commercial and industrial areas, the expansion of transport, energy, water, and wastewater facilities, the modernization of public tourism and educational institutions, investments in renewable energies, as well as the establishment or expansion of research and innovation infrastructures. Eligible recipients are municipal authorities, non-profit organizations, associations, and consortia of at least three partners, including at least one commercial enterprise. The program specifically aims to preserve and create commercial jobs and contributes to the implementation of regional development strategies.
Funding is provided in the form of non-repayable grants and can cover up to 90% of eligible expenses, usually between 60–75%. Higher funding rates are granted if the project is implemented intermunicipally, meets climate protection and sustainability criteria, or makes a special contribution to securing skilled labor. Eligible applicants include companies, municipalities, and tax-privileged institutions that submit their application to the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Development Bank (LFI M-V) before the start of work. Eligible costs include construction and ancillary construction costs, planning and consulting services, as well as investments in research and renewable energies. A commitment period of up to 25 years ensures the long-term preservation of the infrastructure. Interested project sponsors can obtain detailed guidelines and application forms from the LFI M-V and submit applications until December 31, 2029.
