Description
The program Grants for Erosion Control Measures in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania aims to prevent soil erosion through site-appropriate management. It is part of agricultural funding in the thematic area Agriculture & Rural Development and is granted as a subsidy by the Ministry for Climate Protection, Agriculture, Rural Areas and Environment of the state. Eligible applicants are agricultural enterprises of all sizes, private individuals, and start-ups with a business location and proof of agricultural activity in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Priority funding targets include the establishment of erosion control areas, the introduction of strip-till and direct seeding methods, as well as the ongoing maintenance of existing buffer strips according to the guidelines of the erosion control directive and the information sheet FP 532-533.
The grant covers 100% of eligible expenses. Costs for the establishment and maintenance of buffer strips and mulch systems are funded; expenses for non-recognized crops, soil excavation outside the application areas, or investments unrelated to erosion control are not eligible. The project duration is up to twelve months. Funding applications must be submitted annually by December 31 of the previous year before the start of the commitment period to the responsible approval authority (StALU). Payment requests must be submitted by May 15 of the commitment year. Required documents include the completed application form, a site plan of the areas, proof of agricultural activity, the business number, and a declaration of commitment. Selection is based on urgency, area potential, and completeness of documents to ensure sustainable and erosion-minimized cultivation of arable land in the medium term.
