Description

Within the framework of the funding guideline "Living Democracy!", nationwide grants are awarded for projects that strengthen diversity, tolerance, and democratic coexistence. Funding is provided to public institutions, educational institutions, companies, interest groups, as well as other associations active in the fields of engagement for social cohesion, counseling, training and further education, education, work and social affairs, and corporate financing. The Federal Ministry of Education, Family, Seniors, Women and Youth provides up to 90% of eligible expenses. The project duration is a maximum of eight years and may – taking into account the specific funding requirements – begin as of January 1, 2025. Target groups include in particular children, adolescents and their caregivers, young adults, as well as volunteers, part-time and full-time staff in child and youth welfare, multipliers, and civil society as well as governmental actors.

Eligible costs include personnel expenses, flat-rate material costs, fees, event costs (training sessions, conferences), participant allowances, and travel expenses. Applications must be submitted via the official funding portal by specified deadlines; deadlines and call details will be announced there. A prerequisite is the recognition of the free democratic basic order and the assignment of the project to the action fields of the federal program. By supporting professional networks, structural quality development, and continuous process support, the funding contributes to the sustainable strengthening of democratic processes throughout Germany. Organizations with innovative concepts and tailored measures are invited to engage intensively with the selection criteria and to leverage the potential of the program for their project goals.
