Description
The funding program of the State Ministry for Housing, Construction and Transport supports investments in the infrastructure and equipment of airfields in Bavaria with the aim of promoting structural improvements, optimized transport connections, and regional development. Operators of airfields with a permit according to § 6 of the Air Traffic Act and an average passenger volume of up to 200,000 per year are eligible for funding. The airfields must be open to all users and be designated as key airfields in the state development program or make a demonstrable contribution to the sustainable further development of air traffic through the planned measures. The program is primarily aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), municipalities, associations, as well as public institutions and interest groups. The funding rate is up to 40% of eligible expenses and can be applied for on an ongoing basis.
Eligible expenses include, among others, construction measures on runways, taxiways, and aprons, fixed air traffic control facilities such as control towers, lighting systems, terminal buildings, hangars, fencing, as well as modern supply and disposal infrastructure including charging and refueling facilities for electric and hydrogen aircraft and photovoltaic systems. Technical equipment for instrument-based approach and departure procedures, weather service facilities, and operational equipment such as fire-fighting vehicles and snow removal equipment are also funded. A prerequisite for funding, in addition to the aviation law permit, is proof of the annual passenger volume as well as the absence of any objection to a recovery order by the EU Commission. Upon positive review by the competent government authority, approval is granted in the form of a grant, which contributes as project aid to the sustainable further development of Bavarian air traffic.
