Description
From 2024 to 2029, the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will provide targeted grants through the LEADER funding instrument, enabling Local Action Groups (LAGs) to implement their pre-approved rural development strategies. Innovative projects in the areas of urban development and renewal, infrastructure, agriculture, and regional promotion are supported, with up to 100% of eligible expenses potentially covered. Budget funds are available to natural persons, partnerships, as well as legal entities under private and public law (excluding federal and state governments) – provided they are organized within a LAG and have an EU-compliant local development strategy. The selection and approval of projects are carried out by the respective LAG, which also determines the schedule for submitting project ideas. Applications must be submitted to the competent State Office for Agriculture and Environment (StALU) before the start of the measure.
Support is provided particularly for productive investments as well as preparatory services for transnational and inter-territorial cooperation projects, along with the administration, accompaniment, and evaluation of the local development strategy (LDS). Grants must have a minimum amount of EUR 2,500; cooperation projects are limited to a preparatory period of 18 months and must involve the joint implementation of a project. For buildings, machinery, and technical equipment, a binding period of five years applies. The maximum funding amount is EUR 312,500 per LAG, with individual cooperation projects eligible for grants of up to EUR 10,000. This practice-oriented funding offers regional actors the opportunity to strengthen local potentials and actively shape sustainable development pathways in the rural areas of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
