The Department of Food Security and Veterinary Affairs is committed to protecting the health of consumers and animals and ensures a safe supply of food of animal origin through effective controls, monitoring measures, and advisory services. It protects consumers from deception and promotes sustainable animal health in Upper Austria.

The target groups are agricultural enterprises, veterinarians, slaughterhouse and food business operators, as well as consumers. The department supports direct marketers, milk producers, and businesses involved in the slaughtering, cutting, and processing of animal products by implementing legal frameworks, conducting inspections, and providing professional advice.
