Department 9 Culture, Europe, External Relations is a specialized department within the Office of the Styrian Provincial Government. It offers comprehensive information, targeted funding, quality service, and clear communication in the fields of art, culture, Europe, and sports. Its responsibilities range from advising and supporting regional, national, and international artists and cultural initiatives to organizing workshops, readings, exhibitions, and EU information events, as well as managing the EUROPE DIRECT information office and the Styria House in Brussels. It is also responsible for the preservation of historic town centers, protection of townscapes, and the administrative offices of various participation and participation management committees. In the sports sector, it coordinates funding, training opportunities, and legal matters for athletes, clubs, and state performance centers.

"United in Diversity" – Department 9 promotes art, culture, sports, and European cooperation in Styria. Our mission is to strengthen participation in cultural life, expand international partnerships, and enable athletic development in the region. We rely on transparent processes, sustainable funding concepts, and a dynamic network with local, national, and European stakeholders.

The funding programs and services of Department 9 are aimed at artists and cultural practitioners of all disciplines in Styria, as well as cultural institutions, associations, and initiatives with long-term concepts. In addition, European partner regions and international development projects, athletes, sports clubs, associations, and coaches in elite, amateur, and recreational sports, as well as schools, research institutions, and users of the Styrian State Library, are addressed. The target group also includes residents of Styria who wish to participate in EU funding programs, cultural workshops, or old town preservation projects.
