About the funder

The Department IIa Early Childhood Education, School and Society within the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government is responsible for the planning, management, and financing of child education and care facilities as well as school support services in Vorarlberg. It develops funding programs and guidelines for construction measures, personnel costs, tutoring subsidies, the Voluntary Social Year, school-age childcare, care for five-year-old children, and educational grants for prospective educators. The goal is to secure, improve the quality of, and make family-friendly the early childhood care and education of children up to 14 years of age.

Mission & Vision

The Department of Early Childhood Education, School, and Society (IIa) is committed to ensuring that all children in Vorarlberg have access to needs-based, high-quality care and education. Through targeted support measures and collaborative partnerships with providers and municipalities, it promotes family-friendly structures, fosters equal opportunities, and contributes to social inclusion and educational equity.

Target groups

The funding programs of Department IIa are aimed at providers of early childhood education and care facilities (toddler groups, kindergartens, school-age childcare), private individuals (e.g., applicants for tutoring, BAfEP students), schools and municipalities offering full-day or holiday care, as well as organizations supervising Voluntary Social Year participants in early childhood education settings. Funding recipients include legal entities of public and private care institutions, families with school-age children, BAfEP students, and cooperation partners in the education sector.
