About the funder

The Bavarian State Office for Asylum and Repatriation (LfAR) is the central state authority of the Free State of Bavaria responsible for the coordinated implementation of return and repatriation measures. Within Department R2 – Voluntary Return, the LfAR coordinates all organizational tasks related to the processing of voluntary departures, including the planning and implementation of return and reintegration programs. The office promotes return counseling, return support, and reintegration projects and assists individuals obliged to leave the country in securing housing in their country of origin, in vocational and further training measures, as well as other steps of reintegration.

Mission & Vision

In Bavaria, the guiding principle is humanity and order. The LfAR primarily promotes the voluntary departure of persons obliged to leave and aims to make this process as stress-free and effective as possible. At the same time, the office ensures that if voluntary departure is not utilized, returns are consistently carried out in compliance with the principles of the rule of law and integration policy, in order to guarantee legal certainty and public order in the Free State of Bavaria.

Target groups

The services of Department R2 – Voluntary Return are aimed at persons obliged to leave the country in the Free State of Bavaria. In addition, foreigner authorities, counseling centers, and social organizations are involved as project partners to develop comprehensive return and reintegration solutions. Projects that aim for sustainable reintegration in the country of origin and combine both individual and structural support measures are funded.
