Bezirk Unterfranken

The Bezirk Unterfranken is a public law corporation based in Würzburg and constitutes the third level of municipal self-government in Bavaria. It was established as an independent territorial authority after World War II and undertakes supra-local tasks that exceed those of districts and independent cities. Its main focuses are social services (integration assistance, nursing care support, psychiatric care), the operation of its own institutions, as well as cultural work and heritage preservation.
