About the funder

Bremer Aufbau-Bank GmbH (BAB) has been the development bank of the state of Bremen and Bremerhaven since 2001. It pursues an economic and socio-political mandate and supports small and medium-sized enterprises in all phases – from start-up through growth and restructuring to succession – with low-interest loans, equity investments, guarantees, and consulting. Additionally, BAB promotes housing construction, provides funding for public institutions, and acts as a central contact point for private individuals and housing companies. The state guarantee of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen enables BAB to offer refinancing-favored and tax-exempt funding, which fully benefits the promotional purpose.

Target groups

The funding programs of BAB are aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from all sectors in Bremen and Bremerhaven during phases of establishment, growth, consolidation, restructuring, and succession. Furthermore, BAB supports startups and founders with innovative business ideas, owners and private individuals in creating, modernizing, or energetically renovating residential spaces, as well as housing companies and public institutions in infrastructure and quality of life projects. Banks and savings banks also benefit as cooperation partners from refinancing funds, guarantees, and risk partnerships.
