About the funder

The Brigitte Merk-Erbe & Thomas Erbe Foundation is a non-profit foundation officially recognized by the Government of Upper Franconia, based in Bayreuth. It was established by Bayreuth’s Mayor Brigitte Merk-Erbe to sustainably strengthen the club life in Bayreuth. With an initial capital endowment of 50,000 euros, the foundation has been promoting and supporting non-profit Bayreuth clubs since its inception in 2012 in the areas of social affairs, education and upbringing, arts and culture, nature and animal protection, elderly and medical care, fire and disaster protection, as well as sports.

Mission & Vision

The foundation is committed and determined to promote and strengthen volunteer engagement in Bayreuth. It pursues exclusively charitable purposes and aims to provide assistance where public funds are insufficient due to tight budgets. The goal is to foster civic cooperation and offer financial support to clubs for their projects.

Target groups

Non-profit associations based in Bayreuth are supported if they are active in one or more of the following areas: social affairs; education and upbringing; arts and culture; nature and animal protection; elderly, sick, and disabled care; fire and disaster protection; sports. The foundation also supports other civic engagement that serves charitable, benevolent, or ecclesiastical purposes.
