The BürgerStiftung Hamburg follows the guiding principle "Connecting People – Creating Future" and aims to encourage Hamburg-based companies to engage in responsible social commitment. It believes in the transformative power of long-term partnerships and that personal development and social change require time. At the core of its work are children and young people, whose personal development and self-confidence are to be strengthened through collaborative engagement between business and civil society.

The funding programs of BürgerStiftung Hamburg are aimed, on the one hand, at Hamburg-based companies that wish to engage as socially responsible actors, and on the other hand, at non-profit project sponsors in the fields of education, sports, and culture. The direct beneficiaries of the funded projects are children and young people in Hamburg, for whom the foundation establishes and supports tailored learning, sports, and cultural offerings on a long-term basis.
