About the funder

Bürgschaftsbank Thüringen GmbH (BBT), based in Erfurt, is the central guarantee institution for founders, small and medium-sized enterprises, freelancers, and successors in Thuringia. As a limited liability company with a public mandate, it promotes economically viable projects by providing default guarantees of up to 80% to banks, savings banks, and leasing companies. BBT thus offers first-class security for house banks, facilitates access to low-interest loans from programs such as GuW Thüringen of the Thuringian Development Bank, and supports investments in fixed assets, inventory, working capital, or intangible assets.

Mission & Vision

We advocate for equal opportunities in small and medium-sized enterprises and enable financing projects where customary bank securities are lacking. With straightforward, reliable guarantees, we strengthen the competitiveness and innovative capacity of Thuringian companies, promote jobs, and contribute to sustainable economic development in the region.

Target groups

Our funding programs are aimed at founders, successors, freelancers, and existing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with business locations in Thuringia, who are unable to meet their house banks' collateral requirements fully or partially for their financing. All industries are eligible (except for agricultural primary production under the GuW program), provided the companies meet the EU criteria for SMEs.
