About the funder

The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is a central body of the German Federal Government dedicated to international development cooperation. Its task is to plan and steer German development policy. The BMZ works closely with international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and civil society to address global challenges such as poverty, climate change, and migration. It is committed to the realization of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals and promotes projects that improve living conditions in developing countries.

Mission & Vision

The BMZ aims to sustainably improve living conditions in developing countries and to combat global challenges such as poverty, hunger, and climate change. Target groups

The target group of the BMZ includes a variety of actors, such as: governments of developing countries receiving support for the implementation of development projects; international organizations collaborating to achieve global development goals; non-governmental organizations (NGOs) whose projects are funded; civil society, which is involved in development policy processes and promotes civic engagement; as well as the private sector, which is supported in investing in sustainable projects in developing countries.
