About the funder
The Daniel Schnakenberg Foundation is a private foundation based in Bremen. It was established in 1935 through a legacy decision by the Bremen emigrant and New York merchant Daniel Schnakenberg, who bequeathed 10,000 US dollars to his hometown for needy children. The foundation supports child, youth, and family recreation in the state of Bremen. The original endowment has grown to approximately two million euros. Annually, around 20,000 euros from interest income as well as approximately 150,000 euros from the Senator for Social Affairs are allocated. The office is located at the ServiceBureau Youth Information.
