The Deutsche Rentenversicherung Knappschaft-Bahn-See is a legally competent public law corporation with self-administration and employer status (§ 29 SGB IV in conjunction with § 143 SGB VI). It combines the sponsorships of Knappschaft, Bahn, and See in an association and assumes responsibilities in pension, rehabilitation, health, and social insurance. As a public contracting authority, it ensures the grant management of funding programs on behalf of various federal ministries within the scope of its federal funding office and thereby supports nationwide projects.
