About the funder

The Hanns R. Neumann Foundation is a private, non-profit foundation based in Hamburg that has been committed since its establishment in 2005 to supporting socially disadvantaged children and youth in Northern Germany as well as smallholder farming families in coffee-producing countries. In Hamburg, the foundation supports projects that enable young people—particularly those with a migration background or from educationally disadvantaged households—to achieve educational qualifications, enhance language skills, and strengthen social participation. Internationally, it works in partnership with local organizations in coffee-growing regions to create opportunities for young people in their home countries and to build sustainable livelihoods.

Mission & Vision

The Hanns R. Neumann Foundation sees itself as a reliable partner for long-term development processes. It not only provides financial support but also focuses on close networking, structural development of its partner organizations, and professional exchange. The goal is to empower disadvantaged children and young people, break the vicious cycle of educational and economic poverty, and pave the way to a self-determined, positive future through empowerment and education.

Target groups

The HRNS funding programs in Northern Germany target socially disadvantaged children and young people—particularly those with a migration background or from educationally deprived households—who face significant obstacles on the path to school and vocational qualifications. In coffee-producing countries, it supports young people and smallholder farming families seeking opportunities in their home regions to build a livable, self-determined life.
