Hans-Joachim Hoffmann-Stiftung
About the funder
The Hans-Joachim Hoffmann Foundation was established in memory of Hans-Joachim Hoffmann, who passed away in 2007 at the age of 49 due to the effects of a brain tumor. The non-profit foundation is dedicated to promoting the hospice philosophy and palliative medicine in the Varel region and its surroundings. It provides financial grants for the training and further education of volunteer staff in end-of-life care and grief work, group dynamic offerings for palliative caregivers, the development of bereavement support for children, as well as facilities such as grief cafés. Through continuous funding, the foundation supports regional outpatient hospice services, inpatient hospices, and palliative care units to sustainably improve the quality of life for seriously ill and dying individuals.

Mission & Vision
The Hans-Joachim Hoffmann Foundation aims to strengthen the hospice philosophy and palliative medicine through financial support of high-quality, compassionate care for dying individuals and their relatives. We believe in the importance of self-determination and the protection of personal integrity in the final phase of life and support projects that realize these values in outpatient and inpatient care.
Target groups
Regional initiatives, institutions, and individuals active in hospice work and palliative medicine are supported. This includes volunteer hospice services, palliative care units, bereavement groups, child grief counselors, and all organizations that professionally or voluntarily support terminally ill people and their relatives in the Varel region and adjacent districts.
