About the funder
The Helmut Ecker Foundation is a non-profit foundation established in accordance with its founder Helmut Ecker's intentions to promote research and treatment of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It awards project-based funding to university clinics, research institutions, and cooperating organizations to develop new therapeutic approaches and models to combat this eye disease. The foundation acts both as a supporter of scientific projects and as an initiator of endowed professorships and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Mission & Vision
The Helmut Ecker Foundation aims to strengthen medical research on age-related macular degeneration and thereby sustainably improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of this disease. Eligible to apply are researchers, clinical teams, and working groups aiming to develop and implement innovative concepts for the study of AMD.
