About the funder

The Kinder- und Jugendhospizstiftung Balthasar is a church-affiliated foundation under civil law based in Olpe. Founded in 2006 by the Non-Profit Society of the Franciscan Sisters of Olpe Ltd., it secures the long-term financial basis for the Kinder- und Jugendhospiz Balthasar. The ongoing costs for accommodation, care, grief support, and supplementary services are covered from the income generated by the invested foundation assets. In this way, the foundation supports and relieves terminally ill children, adolescents, and their families in a family-like atmosphere.

Mission & Vision

The Kinder- und Jugendhospizstiftung Balthasar aims to give seriously ill children and adolescents, as well as their families, "TogetherTime." By building and maintaining a growing endowment, it ensures the continuous funding of all hospice services – from care and psychosocial support to grief counseling – and provides families with a place to live, laugh, mourn, and say farewell with dignity.

Target groups

The funding programs of the Kinder- und Jugendhospizstiftung Balthasar are aimed at terminally ill children and young people aged 0 to 27, as well as their families (parents, siblings, and other relatives or close caregivers). They include both inpatient care at the children’s and youth hospice and outpatient, low-threshold support services through the Balthasar Center.
