About the funder
The non-profit Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation was established in 1968 based on the will of its founder, Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach. As the largest individual shareholder of thyssenkrupp AG, it uses the proceeds from its assets exclusively for charitable purposes. Owner of the historic Villa Hügel and the Hügelpark in Essen, the foundation supports projects in the fields of science, education, art and culture, health, and sports. Furthermore, it operates institutions such as the Historical Krupp Archive and initiates independent research and review projects on the history of its founder and the industrial corporation.

Target groups
Non-profit organizations, associations, and public institutions based in Germany – particularly in the Ruhr area – as well as individuals and groups in science, education, art and culture, sports, and healthcare are supported. Other target groups include young scientists, artists, and initiatives implementing innovative projects with local as well as international relevance.
